I am heading to the UK this month to live, What is the dental health system like??

I am currently in Australia, and leave to go to London this month, got my british passport yay! But recently I have been to the dentist, and I might need root canal treatment, she said I could register as a NHS patient and get one done when I arrive in England, for a much cheaper price aswell. Could some English people let me know what the dental system is like over there???? Thank You ( I have a phobia of dentists)

I just called a dentist in Westminster, and I looked on the NHS website, and alot of the dental practices were accepting new NHS patients. He said when I get to London, give them a call.

It is very hard to get an NHS dentist as new legislation has recently been introcuced that means dentists who choose the accept NHS patients do not earn as much as the previously did.

NHS dentists have to see alot of patients to earn much money, and the appoints are usually short.

If you have a dental phobia, it will be worth seeing a private dentist to discuss cost - private dentists have the time to reassure, explain and help patients.

If you know the postcode of where you will be living in London, you can search at the NHS website for local dentists. You may have to travel a long way to get an NHS dentist. See:

trust me. Go Private if you can. The NHS is very good but NHS dentists are like gold dust here.

Just quietly, I wouldn't touch the NHS with a ten-foot-pole. I've seen some seriously compromising work come out of there. I live in Australia at the moment, but the amount of people I have seen and helped fix after having come out of the UK is insane. Go private.
