Am I eligible for free health/dental clinic? |
I'm a 23 year old working a part time job without health or dental insurance, and I need to go to the dentist. I found a free clinic in my area, but it says you have to be a resident of the county. I'm renting from a friend and living in the state trying to establish residency, but it's not official yet. Can I go to the clinic, give my current renting address, and still get treatment? I'm afraid they'll ask for my driver's license or other info that will show I'm still a resident of a different state. What should I do? Is there any way I can still get in? I'm in VA if that helps. Take your current electricity bill or a copy of your lease. If they ask about the address on your license just tell them you haven't had time to get it changed yet. First of all, you should get your ID changed over to your new address if you're looking to establish residency. But take a bill or other legal document with the new address on it and you should be able to get seen. Now if their program has criteria--such as income based criteria--your job may or may not kick you out of the running but it never hurts to try! Good luck! |
