Why dental caries[decay] is most prevelent disease in world? |
more n more people r suffering frm tooth decay inspite of lots of good dentifrices, advtsmnts.,floss etc.u can get FREE advice on any dental problem. Because they don't connect decay or periodontal disease with severe health problems or death. They don't understand that there have been links with these problems and other severe problems. Everyone has teeth and many people in many countries don't have the resources(water, toothbrushes, paste) to do good oral care. You are absolutely correct decay on hte teeth is the most prevalent disease in the world second to the simple common cold and I will tell you why. There is mounting evidence that links poor oral hygiene to a range of both dental and medical insurance being expensive and limited to what it will cover, not to mention the co-payments and deductibles. Because this is many, many people about 40% to be exact, do not see their dentist every six months like advised by dentist. The dentist do not recommend this just to check your teeth, but to clean your teeth, also the flouride they use to apply on your teeth to prevent tooth decay - this is a mineral that strenghtens tooth enamal, there are dental sealants, clear plastic coatings that get brushed onto the chewing surfaces of molors, remove the build up of calculus, or tartor, which forms when plaque - a sticky film of bacteria that hardens on the teeth, as they feed on sugar, food residu on the teeth and the bacteria produce acids without going to the dentist every 6 months the acids begin to eat away the enamel off your teeth as if you were bulimic. Once this proccess begins thats how cavities get started. A cavity is a hole in the tooth. Going to the dentist allows them to emphasize treatment that prevent oral healthcare problems such as decay. Although health plans have begun to cover more treatments/preventative services. Dental providing good oral healthcare is especially in pregnant woman simply because pregnant woman can pass effects of many different things to the unborn child. There are many colleges that offer help to those who don't have enough money to see a dentist, they charge mostly nothing and It gives students the opportunity to practice (and step by step there will be an actual dentist with a licence there watching to make sure things are done right. |
