Share your experiences when you had DENGUE and was confined?

tell us the story from the symptoms to what was did to you in the hospital like how many blood tests was done what happened after you had dengue, were there still rashes or bruises...things like that.

I had a high fever for 3 days, then I went to the hospital to have a blood test. The platelets were waybelow normal so the doctor had me confined for 5 days. WHile I was in the hospital. I had my blood checked regularly. 4-5 times a day actually.
Oh yeah, I had a dextrose the entire time I was confined.

Dengue fever and dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) are acute febrile diseases. This infectious disease is manifested by a sudden onset of fever, with severe headache, muscle and joint pains (myalgias and arthralgias 鈥?severe pain gives it the name break-bone fever or bonecrusher disease) and rashes; the dengue rash is characteristically bright red petechia and usually appears first on the lower limbs and the chest - in some patients, it spreads to cover most of the body. There may also be gastritis.

The diagnosis of dengue is usually made clinically. The classic picture is high fever with no localising source of infection, a petechial rash with thrombocytopenia and relative leukopenia.
Serology and PCR (polymerase chain reaction) studies are available to confirm the diagnosis of dengue if clinically indicated.

The mainstay of treatment is supportive therapy. The patient is encouraged to keep up oral intake, especially of oral fluids. If the patient is unable to maintain oral intake, supplementation with intravenous fluids may be necessary to prevent dehydration and significant hemoconcentration. A platelet transfusion is rarely indicated if the platelet level drops significantly or if there is significant bleeding.
