After being given antibiotics, my fever has come down, but blood platelets have come down to1,14000. Dengue? |
Last year I had dengue fever. This year again I deveopled high fever. I was given antibiotics to bring down the fever, but the blood platelet count has come down from 1,70,000 to 1,14,000. How serious is this? Do I have dengue? I do not vomit, nor have any rashes in my body. I do feel weak though, but even that is better now. My leucocytes count is also quite low, about 2,600. Kindly help me with my query A drop in platelets from 170,000 to 114,000 or a drop in your leococyte count to 2,600 need not be cause for alarm. A simple viral infection can cause both these to occur. So can a bacterial infection. There may be a problem if these levels continue to fall. Chances are they will begin to return to normal within a week or so. Have a repeat check in two weeks to confirm, if you are feeling better, or if you start to feel unwell, get tested sooner. But a count of 114,000 is low, but not serious, if it drops to 50,000, that's serious. Where are u from (geographicaly) ? . Make sure u rule out chikungunya too (if prevalent in ur locale now) see i want to know in detail for that i want to talk Two cell lines are low. You may be having aplastic anemia, due to bone marrow depression by a virus or drug. You need a bone marrow aspiration with DR. |
