What caused Napolean's "dementia" on the island St. Helens?

Is this maybe what causes dementia in older people or anybody at any age ?

Seems to me that Napoleon had other symptoms as well as the dementia which all point to Tertiary Syphilis...The "disease of Kings"

Nobody knows what causes dementia. There are many causes of it, alzheimer's being one, stroke another, etc. Depression/lack of social contact is thought to be a risk factor, but the research isn't definitive, I don't think.

Every year there are new, major things learned about dementia. Almost nothing said today is factual, it is preliminary research yet.
