Benefits for people with Dementia.?


I am looking for the latest guidance to benefits available for people with Dementia and how much they will get.

Dla is the most likely benefit .. also if you are caring for someone with dementia you are entitled to carers allowance .

Dla is two elements and depends on the seriousness and mobilty and care required to function on a day to day basis .

my mum has dementia, in addition to her state pension she has a private but if not would be able to claim pension credit. she gets attendance allowance (theres 2 rates we get the higher as she needs 24 hr care) but theres a lesser rate if u only need daytime care. i get carers allowance and income support, although it comes to more u are only entitled to 拢87 a week in total. we also get a 50% reduction in council tax thats 25% for her as she has dementia and 25% for me being the carer and the only other adult in the house. hope this helps but if u need any info contact yr local branch of the Alzheimers Society they are very good.
