Looking for activities for dementia clients that are bed bound?

work in a aged care facility and looking for suitable activities for my clients with dementia that are bed bound and many are unable to communicate. need safe and stimulating ideas to improve there quality of life. looking for activities other then massages

The rubber bands that PT uses is fun, soft squishy balls, toy animals, baby dolls and wraps, children's books with big pictures, dress up clothes, children's make ups kits, colouring books, wigs, hats, doll cut outs. Slingshots, cowboy boots, cowboy hats, children's fishing gear (easy to use and does not have hooks), tea parties, balloons, (the heavy kind that does not burst easily,) mirrors, telling stories, sewing, making potholders with loops,

I talk to the families and find out what the client enjoyed as a child and try to get things that will remind them of happier days. Families and staff bring in lots of things for the clients to play with so the budget is not strained.

Does your facility allow pet visitation? I've seen patients perk up wonderfully at the sight of a gentle dog. One place I visited even had an older one in permanent residence. She roamed the halls freely, and actually made "the rounds" by herself each day.
