Help needed about alzeimer or dementia.....!!!? |
What are the symptoms of alzeimer or dementia? How to treat a patient suffering from it Generally it's forgetfulness. People can forget simple things, like the day, or year. Some people repeat sentences and stories over and over again and others forget a certain period of their lives (i.e. they cannot remember the past 10 years of their life but have vivid recollections of their time before that). They can also develop strange behavioural patterns, my nanna used to call my mum every half hour. It's a sad disease, and unfortunately it's not curable. All you can do is make sure that the person is safe and comfortable - oh yeah, they like to wander sometimes as well. I don't know all symptoms, but I helped take care of a dementia patient. They get very disallusioned, lost at times. She felt as if she was floating at times and asked us to help her away from the ceiling. At times she thought she would see people who weren't there and get offended by them for not showing us they were there. Moods changed very fast and unexpectedly. Those are some of the symptoms I know of with dementia.
