Is it true that hormone pills can cause future dementia in women?

My mother came down with dementia some time 4-5 years ago. I still don't know for sure what had caused it. My late grandmother never had it. I have heard on the news that women that take estrogen pills risk having dementia in their future lifetimes. My mother used to take these pills for her "hot flashes". Coincidence? Those pills took my mother's soul away!

Oh no! I hope that it isn't true, because I am only 31 and I had to take these due to a total hysterectomy two years ago! Thanks for the tip, I'm gonna do some research! Sorry about your mom.

You mean more than the usual amount of female dementia?

People have to remember that medicines are foreign matter to the body, in most cases, poison. They help us get through what we need to, but they can do a lot of damage too. I'm so sorry about your mom, and yes possibly the estrogen contributed to it, but good lord i think even the colors in candy and cereals can do awful things to us too. I understand your frustration. Unfortunately if medications come with a warning then you chance getting ill from them at your own risk. Look into it with a lawyer if you feel the need to...

WOW...THAT IS TERRIBLE....boy, i would read up on estrogen...because i cannot take it due to the very bad history of cancer (all kinds) on my Mom's side...i have NO IDEA and i have never heard of estrogen causing DEMENTIA!!!..but READ UP ON IT...AND i am sorry for your losses..that is horrible...

I know the FDA came out with some warnings on those hormone tablets a few years ago. but i have realtives who still take them.

Sorry there is zero evidence to support your claim that hormones caused this. Just because grandma didn't have it means little. She could have gotten it from grandpa, or sometimes stuff like this skips a generation. Also there are many other things that could have caused this, like alzheimers..
