Why does dehydration cause vomiting?

I've been wondering why dehydration CAUSES vomiting. I know that vomiting can LEAD to dehydration, but I cannot find out why you would vomit due to dehydration, or if you are already dehydrated; it seems counter-productive at that point. Thanks, whomever!

This will sound really gross but if you're dehydrated your body doesn't want anything it can't digest in it. You have to have water to digest stuff.

I don't know, but thanks for asking that question-- I had a terrible morning on the elliptical :P

when you get dehydrated your body swells b/c of the loss of water your organs want to find more water so they swell and that is one cause of throwing up...your body has no extra space left

your body isnt ready to handle to much liquid or food because it hasnt recieved any...the only way to handle it without a hospital bed is drink small amounts over a long period of time

I'm taking a guess at this....but I think what is happening is that with out proper hydration, toxins build up poisoning the body. The body's response to this is to expel the toxins anyway possible...hence vomiting.

Your kidneys become insufficient and the toxins in your body begin to build up. And then because of that, you get a lot of different symptoms, including upset stomach

as you know when you are dehydrated you lack water well, when you throw up, you are getting your throat wet and therefore you dont feel as dehydrated

you are in a sports game
havnt drunk for 6 hours
thirsty
need water
body knows it needs water
your brain and heart are the most important things in your body so they say that you vomit so that it's a warning that you need water.
then you faint so that you save energy from the rest of your body to make sure your heart and brain still work.

overall a warning that you are working too hard and need to slow down and take a break...

I would suspect that it is because of a build up of toxins in the body that if one were sufficiently hydrated, the body could expel through sweating or urination. The body is, in effect being "poisoned" and is fighting back. Make sense?

why the heck are you asking that? i dont get it. thats wierd! is that like your first question when you meet a hot person? "hi your hot why does dehydration cause vomiting? hey you wanna go out?" cuz that WILL NOT end up well. Does that help you?

Dehydration is BAD! Probably one of the worst things that's ever happened to me. It causes so many bad status ailments! Headaches, dizziness, vomiting, etc. The thing about the toxins is true, it makes you hurt all over, like you just got hit by a truck or something.

So make sure you drink lots of water! It's refreshing, plentiful and cheap.
