Dehydration??? |
I think I may be dehydrated and this had happened to me before so I am not hugely concerned, just looking for a little advice. I tend to get dehydrated in the winter months and so I drink plenty of water and keep myself hydrated. I drank quite a bit on New Years Eve and nursed a bit of a hangover yesterday, if anything I slept too much yesterday and don't think I drank enough water. Today, I feel very dizzy and lightheaded, a bit of headache but not pounding, and just can't seem to wake up. I started drinking water and drank a propel gatorade drink and am ready to start on another. I am feeling a little more clear, but still dizzy and have some chills. My doctor can't fit me in today, and honestly I don't think I should be driving around anyway when I feel this out of it. Eat and relax, you should feel better two hours afterwards. Sounds like you're doing all that you need to do. Drink some electrolyte drinks and plenty of water, eat some good food and you should be feeling fine in no time. If you are able, try and get some sleep... all of this will help out but I think that you're doing a good job as it is right now. When you decide to tie one on in the future, try and remember to drink a glass of water with each drink... this will help prevent a hangover and you will not get as dehydrated. I get this often . I had to drink loads, and rested quite a bit, although it's better not to miss out on drinks through sleep. I don't know if this is a good thing to reccomend, ut it worked in the past- take stuff you take to replace fluids lost during diareah and similar problems. But be careful, to much coud be bad. In most developing countries, you can buy packets of a powdered oral rehydration solution, WHO-ORS, originally developed by the World Health Organization to treat diarrhea and dehydration in infants with cholera. Reconstitute the powder in water according to the directions on the package. Always boil the water first, remeasure the water, then add the powdered oral rehydration material. Try 2 aspirin, Advil or Aleve for chills & hangover. Eat some starch to soak up alcohol...bread, rice, potatoes, etc. Don't drink carbonated drinks. Take a nap & when you wake up you should be feeling better. |
