It's very difficult to lose a lot of weight from exercise, especially starting from where you are, where you can't burn that many calories.

There's no substitute for determining how many calories are in everything you eat and finding some numerical limit you can live with. I found that way that I have to endure some hunger to lose weight beyond 10 - 15 pounds. Otherwise I'll gain back whatever I lose very quickly.

There are websites you can consult for foods that don't have labels. You really should see a dietician about how much salt, carbs, fiber, fat and protein are best for you given your illnesses. Then stick to those limits. Seeing even your first grandchild grow up depends on that. Surgery to restrict your stomach has side effects from losing too much weight plus the risks of any surgery. It's really best to work out some system so you know what you're eating and what your limits are so you can get back to a healthy weight and stay there.

Sara, with all your health problems you should qualify for a Lap Band. It is a much safer procedure than stomach stapling and gastric bypass surgery. Check into it. And best of luck to you.

Try your food. Record your results. Try A.l.l.i You can by it at Walmart or the General Nutrition Center (GNC). Good luck!!

I'm sorry you are having these difficulties but almost all of them are related to your weight and that can be fixed but you have got to really want it. Because of your multiple illness, you need to work closely with you doctor to find a diet that will work for you. All of your success will be how motivated you are to stick around to see your family grow up. You need to start moving. Walk 20 feet hourly for a week, increase that to 40 feet, then walk 1/4 of your block the next and on and on. You just need to get moving because activity and diet are the answers to better health. It is going to hurt but you need to do it. Eventually, it won't hurt. Walking longer and longer distances is about the only thing you can safely do at this time. People have lost huge amounts of weight with dieting and exercise but you need to be motivated in order to do this. And, you need your doctors approval and supervision. As you start to lose weight, your self-esteem will increase and you won't be so dependent upon your family for your emotional needs and everyone will be happy.

Eat less especially before bed. Cut down on meat and fried foods. Go for walks after dinner. Let hunger be your friend.

So sorry you don't allow private email.

I recommend South Beach diet phase 2. and as much walking as is possible. I also do yoga movements to help. I eat about 100 grams of carbs per day divided up into 5 very small meals.

All the meds for these diseases do is help to put on weight and keep it there.

As for your gentleman "friend" you probably don't need him if he makes comments like that. He isn't a good person to support your mental condition that goes with these diseases.

Kids love us no matter how we look. It is how we act that keeps them around us and loving us.

Email me and we will discuss this further.

Wow....it sounds like you've got alot of things working against you right now. The good news, though, is that losing weight, while difficult, is not impossible. But you have to be totally commited and dedicated to taking the weight off and becoming healthy. (Due to your health issues, I don't think you'd be a good candidate for any kind of surgery.)

First off, I think you should consider seeking out some kind of counseling. It sounds like you're dealing with alot of stuff and I think talking with someone will help you sort out your feelings and get you to a place where you're ready to commit to a healthy lifestyle.

When you're ready, meet with a registered dietician who can help set up meal plans so that you can start eating healthy...low calorie, high fibre foods to keep you full and protein to keep your blood sugar at an even keel.

In addition, you should try and seek out a personal trainer. The good thing about personal trainers is that they will set up a plan for you and even work out with you and help keep you motivated.

17 years ago, I had to have brain surgery to remove a cerebral AVM. Prior to the surgery, my weight was at a healthy place. However, during the year after my surgery, I gained almost 100lbs. Since then, I've struggled to take the weight off. I've had some success, so I know it can be done.

It's important to realize that there is no magic pill or potion. It all comes down to eating healthy and exercising regularly. And you also have to realize that it's going to take time.

Just like the Little Engine That Could.....if you "think you can," then you will!!!

Good luck!!!

I wish you lived in my area so that I could come work out with you. Even if you can't do much, you can always improve. Try to find a buddy in your area to walk with, or come over to your house and do work out video's. It makes the struggle a little easier if you have someone who understands and can help you stay motivated. I don't know what kind of health insurance you have, but you should call and find out if they can help you with physical therapy and whatever else may help.

sounds like you are in the shallow end of the gene pool, sorry
