What is the physiologic needs for patient with deep vein thrombosis?

What is the physiologic needs for patient with deep vein thrombosis?

Anticoagulation, usually with coumadin (warfarin). The danger with DVT is that the clot would break apart and go to the blood vessels of the lung, causing a pulmonary embolus which can lead to death.

I agree with Kris except they prefer not to use comedian because it requires frequent blood tests. Arixtra and Lovenox require less follow up and side affects.
I have a vena cava filter in me to prevent the clots from moving to my heart and lungs. When I get a clot it is not a life or death thing, reducing the stress of having cancer.
