Is a deep vein thrombosis more common in the left leg? |
i have spina bifida and a high clotting factor as well as problems with edema among other things. i have had 3 blood clots over the last 11 years and all 3 in the left leg. i am no on fondaparin 10mg 1x a day for the rest of my life. I have a blood clotting disorder and I also developed a blood clot in my left leg. I had lots going on that put me at risk- the unsuspected clotting disorder and taking birth control pills. I also (which I found out after my surgery) have a weird condition called May-Thurner's Syndrome, where my left femoral artery "crushes" my iliac vein. This is where my clot started. I have a lot of scarring in the vein, and have a stent to keep it open. I take 7mg of coumadin a day for life and, knock on wood, haven't had any additional problems. Not really. The anatomy of veins in both legs are the same. blood drainage from testicles are different therefore, varicosis is more common in left testicle than right. But according to leg veins, I don't think so. no,it's not prominent in either limb.if you're on coumadin you should be getting pt and ptt tests often and also being checked by your doctor often. hi, god help u . although the anatomy of veins is the same in both sides but some people has the ability to develop deep v thrombosis in one leg than the other<reported > & may me there is a local cause as compression .....who knows i want u to forget your condition & smile Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) can happen equally in both legs. THe only difference would be maybe if you keep your left leg more sedentary than your right leg. Since you are at risk (with the high clotting factor) I would be sure to raise my legs during the day when I can. Hopefully you won't have any more trouble with this. Weighing yourself and keeping the edema under control each day should help with all of this also. |
