What are the symptoms of deep vein thrombosis. recentlty had surgery and got a bleed requiring further surgery

very achey right leg. could this be dvt. no swelling

The most common symptoms of a DVT in the leg are swelling and pain in the affected leg. These symptoms are caused by the accumulation of blood that is unable to get past the clot in the vein and the resulting leakage of fluid from the blood into the muscle. Many other conditions exhibit symptoms similar to those of a DVT, for example, muscle strains, skin infections, and inflammation of superficial veins. A DVT, therefore, is difficult to diagnose without specific tests in which the deep vein system can be examined.

Furthermore, many patients with a DVT have no symptoms at all unless the clot dislodges, travels to the lung, and causes a pulmonary embolism. In this case, the patient may develop a rapid heart rate, shortness of breath, sharp chest pain that worsens with deep breathing, or cough up blood. If the pulmonary emboli are large and block one or both of the major pulmonary arteries sending blood to the lungs, the patient may develop a very low blood pressure, pass out, and possibly die from lung or heart failure. As is the case with DVTs, however, many other conditions, for example, a heart attack or pneumonia, can mimic a pulmonary embolism. Therefore, specific tests must be done to confirm the diagnosis.

It could be. Usually the pain is bad but it varies with everyone. Are you having any other problems? Breathing OK Any pain else where?
Best thing to do is contact your Dr. and see if he wants to follow up with more testing

The pain usually begins in the thigh or the calf. There are very few warning signs. It feels much lika a stroke or heart attack when it is in late stages.
Not to cause excessive fear, but this is very serious. If you are experiencing any pain that is not due to an injury I would immediately seek medical attention. DVT can cause very sudden death because it goes directly to your lungs and you cannot breathe. Usually DVT occurs in men, usually at a young age the first time (15-30). These are just indicators, though and not absolutes. See their online site for more info, but I strongly suggest that if you fit any of these above, seek help soon. good luck!!

There is not really any symptoms that you feel in your legs. I had DVT for over three years and they detected it after I had a hysterectomy. They did a blood test and that's when they found out that I had Lupus-like anti-coagulants in both of my legs. So I was on Coumodin for over three years. So ask your doctor about your concerns and ak him to give you a blood test and check your lower portion of your legs.
