How do I know if I have Deep-Vein Thrombosis?

I'm waiting for my doctor to call me back on this.

My right calf has been hurting since yesterday. I thought it was sore muscle from walking weird on a sore ankle, but I read up on DVT, and it's hurting the same area of my leg that most DVT appears.

The pain is the only thing that's symptomatic. It's not hot to the touch, it's not swollen and the veins aren't vislble. It just hurts. I don't have a family history or personal history of it. The only risk factor I have is being overweight.

I don't want to mess around with it and have it turn into something serious, but I also don't want to spend all day waiting to see a doctor if it's likely nothing.

Anybody know enough about this to help me figure out if it's serious?

Hi there ,
This must be really painful for you! Speaking from someone who has a excessive clotting disorder i dont think its a clot. The biggest giveaway of a clot is swelling , severe pain and the area being warm too touch! I think that if its causing you alot of pain then you should go and get it checked out. If it is a clot then you need too get it checked out asap , but rest assured that given it would be in the lower extremity ( your calf!) then its got along way too go before reaching the heart. In the meantime , elevation and a warm heat pack may help. Hope you feel better soon!

It is not a DVT case, I believe!
You mentioned you do not have any risk factors but being overwight.if one is not bedridden that's still ok.
What I believe is the best thing to do, is : please go see your doctor (as he has the experience to find out those symptoms that you may not have noticed) but it is not as an emergency case as DVT.
