Why is it a comfortable thing to cross my legs?

I've read that it's unhealthy to sit with your legs crossed (or sitting "Indian style") because it results in poor blood circulation and possibly even some form of deep vein thrombosis (blood clot in the leg) in your legs...but why does it feel comfortable? Does it just become habit? I sit on my legs when I'm usually working on a paper just because it feels more comfortable than to sit with both feet on the floor. And when I do sit regularly, I start tapping my feet.

Is there a biological explanation?

Your foot is rested. However, you cant sit for long cause the other leg gets tired and you cross legs the other way.
Your feet gets restless if you sit too long crossed and you start tapping

PS Indian style( "criss cross applesauce" )is the best sitting posture!

i feel the same way, it is comfortable to sit that way! dont worry ur not weird - unless we both are...

I don't know, but I'm sitting like that right now... lol

I always sit like that everywere i can including school when im on the pc or in the common room i just find it comfortable but if i dont wear socks my feet can develop a redness and dryness of the skin where its been rubbing against the chair material.
