What can you do about very painful, swollen ankle at the end of the day?

The doctor has ruled out filariasis, kidney & heart problems, deep vein thrombosis and had no other findings. I'm in my late forties and in generally good health, otherwise.

Only the left ankle and I haven't twisted it or anything. (I'm a male.)

Your ankle could be swelling up from an old injury that never healed properly. Part of the key is don't over due it, too much use is going to make it swell up time and time again. Cold paks will help take the swelling down a bit, but what works better for me is to elevate the leg and this way your taking the pressure off. The best thing for me is I bought a magnetic necklace, its all magnets. I just wrap it around my ankle when I go to bed and in the morning the swelling and pain are gone and I'm good for another day. My condition is like yours and is not about to go away, so I live with it and I'm afraid that's what your going to have to do to. Buy the magnetic necklace for yourself.

suck it up?

Only one ankle? Elevation should help. Does a diuretic help? Flex and rotate your ankles will increase circulation. No added salt should be a plus.

elevate it take Motrin and maybe an over the counter diuretic

put it up and put a ice pack on it take some mortin

Drink lots of water!

I don't know what it is but, you can make this ice pack I make all the time.

1 tray of ice

3 tsp of salt

a little warm water

mix togehter in a sandwich baggie then appy to ankle
