Can a bit of cotton accidentally lodged in one`s ear cause deafness?

If a small particle of cotton somehow gets embedded in the meatus of the ear, rendering it difficult even for a specialist to remove, can it lead to permanent deafness?

It can as it provides a medium for the bacteria to grow inside your ear which will collect pus over the months and damage your tympanic membrane.. A ENT specialist can obviously remove it and will give you some antibiotics. So go and get it removed before it gets infected.

nope

No.

um im no quite sure, it possible the only way to be sure is to go see a doctor

only in one ear

no, only if you damage the ear drum

All pieces of cotton can b removed by an specialist. If left alone, it would cause some degree of loss of hearing depending on the size of the cotton piece. It may also cause growth of fungus further increasing the degree of loss.
