Can loud music pumped through earphones cause deafness? |
I'm sitting in my little cubicle at work. The guy on the other side of my cubicle is listening to some drum and bass through his earphones. You may ask how I know it's drum and bass....that's because it's so freakin loud i can repeat the drumbeat. Yes it can cause deafness. Every noice above a certain decible causes ear damage. Everytime you blowdry your hair, you are gradually destroying your hearing. It is easily overlooked and people who listen with the volume on SO SUPER LOUD THE PERSON IN THE NEXT CUBICLE OVER CAN HEAR IT shouldn't be surprised when they need hearing aids in their forties. Definitely, especially with how load these Ipods and MP3 can pump music out at. Some permanent hearing damage can occur. yup. anything above 90 decibels is considered harmful according to OSHA. anything above 130 causes pain in the ears. and if I'm not wrong above 150 or 160 can cause instant and permanent damage. |
