Confused about safety of mini pill (pop) and DVT?

I have just change over my contraceptive pill from the combined pill to Cerazette as i was very worried about the increased risk of developing DVT or having a stroke as I was under the impression that with the mini pill this risk was far less. However now I have come home and done a bit of research on the internet I have found a good few articles warning against the only ingredient in Cerazette, Desogestrel. According to what I read, this has been cited as really quite dangerous and with a high increase in the risk of DVT! With even some calls to ban it altogether! I am now really confused!! I thought it was a safer option!
Anyone out there maybe with medical training know which is the truth?
Help greatly appreciated!
Thanks :)

all medications have side effects, check with a doctor and feel free to get a second opinion
