If you have a DVT, will you always have all the symptoms?

I had a DVT three years ago and my calf was swollen, hot and the back of my ankle was purple looking. Right now I am having some pains in that same calf, and the pains run all the way around to my shin bone. I do have some swelling around my knee from a knee surgery I had three years ago. I don't have any redness or major swelling. I don't want to go to the doctor if I don't have to because I don't have insurance. The pains is not like before, so do you think it is something else?

If you had a DVT before, you are probably more likely to have another one. A DVT can become a medical emergency because if can become dislodged and start traveling in your bloodstream and may plug up an important blood vessal elsewhere. If there is no reason for you to have those calf pains (i.e. you didn't overexercise, bang it against something, etc), I would suggest you going to the doctor to check it out. It is better to pay for a doctor's visit and get it figured out than having it possibly turn into a medical emergency because you'll end up paying a lot more.
