Can Constipation cause Cystitis?

Unable to GO and have taken laxatives for the Constipation (which has been caused by taking pain killers for another medical complaint).. I'm awaiting the results of the laxatives.
In the meanwhile i have developed Cystitis i think, God i'm a mess!.
Shall i treat the Cystitis aswell or wait i've got rid of the Constipation first??
Sorry i know it's gross but..... :-( i'd appreciate some advice, Thanks.

You need to go to the doctor and make SURE you have a UTI. Sometimes just straining to defecate can cause you to strain your urethral muscles, which in turn can cause you to think you've got a UTI. And if you DO have a UTI, then you need to get some antibiotics ASAP.

As for the constipation, if this is a chronic thing, then you need to discuss this with your doctor as well. You can cause all sorts of damage to your bowel and rectum by chronic constipation.

It may well be that the pressure caused because you cant go is making your bladder sore and feeling like you have cystitis!
It may also be that you have got a bit of cystitis because of the medication?

Wait for the laxatives to work and see how you feel maybe?

OOOOOOOOooo poor you.
pain-killers do have a nasty side-effect of binding you up.
to counter-act it, increase fluid in-take, at least 8 glasses of water a day, eat fruit & more fibre.
you can treat the cystitis with ordinary cranberry juice, to neutralise the irritation & drink more water, to flush your system.
cyber-hugs on their way
do hope you feel better soon.
:)

constipation will aggravate the cystitis and further cause it to appear if there are no current symptoms.
What laxatives have you tried? You may need to try fleets enema and lactelose syrup, usually work well.Try the lactelose with hot tea.The heat stimulates the peristalsis in your intestines to push out the stool.
I would recommend taking a stool softener twice a day or maybe the lactelose or miralax daily when taking you pain medication since you seem to have a sluggish bowel to Start with. How much water are you drinking? What are your dietary habits? You should be drinking at least 5-24oz bottles of water, fiber such as apples with the peel and corn works.
Avoid rice, bananas, bread and cheese during the constipation times.
Good luck hope this helps.
Then once
