Could i have interstitial cystitis? |
i've had around 6 bladder infections in the past year and a half..i got medication from my doctor for my bladder infection around a month ago and now my back is hurting again...someone mentioned that its possible i could have interstitial cystitis...the last time i had my "bladder infection" i was on my period..right now i am and it seems like i have allerigies too. in the morning when i havent had anything to drink like an hour or hour and a half before i go to bed my bladder feels heavy or pressure but when i pee there isnt anything really there...cause i havent had anything to drink. also the last 2 times ive had a bladder infection my pee doesnt smell or anything like the normal symptoms of a B.I. the only thing that bugs me everytime is my back. also i remember for a couple days every time i got up from sitting down or went to sit down my right ovarie felt funny. it doesnt bug me now though. so is this a bladder infection or interstitial cystitis??? I would suggest you call and make an appt with your internist and ask for a referral to a nephrologist/urologist, also make an appt with your GYN..get complete workups from both.. You only have 2 kidneys, take care of them.. You definately should see a OB/GYN and urologist for this one. I was having the same problems and was diagnosed with IC last month. The pain in your back sounds like you could also have a bladder infection that is effecting your kidneys. I know exactly how you feel....make an appt right away! Report It It took me two years to get diagnosed with IC. You sound like you have the symptoms of IC too. My kidneys feel like they are going to pop out of my back every day. If you have pain while urinating having symptoms of a UTI/Kidney infection then go to the doctor get urine culture. If it comes up negative the you don't have an infection but are having all of the symptoms this is a good sign that you have IC. The only way they can diagnose 100% that you have IC is if you get a bladder distention/cystocopy done. This is when you are under general anesthia and they insert a tiny camera and a tube into your urethra. They put fluid in your bladder to expand it to see if you have any "bleeding cracks" in the lining of your bladder. If you eat high amounts of acid then the acid will make those tiny cracks irritated. The best way to explain it is imagine you having a busted blister and pouring alcohol onto the open wound. It burns like crazy right? When you have IC your bladder reacts to acid with the same symptoms. It is a very painful disease and I pray that you don't have it. I really hope that you get checked out soon. PLEASE see a urologist. They specialize in this!! It is a rare disease and not alot of doctors know alot about it. I can't stress it enough for you to get help. Good luck and I hope it works out for the best!! |
