Anyone know anything about Interstitial Cystitis?

**FIRSTLY: This is NOT normal cystitis, cranberry juice makes it WORSE**
Have just been diagnosed with it, basically I've had what feels like cystitis for about 6 months now, accompanied by pain during sex and I've just been to the Urologist who says the two are linked and has diagnosed me, but says there's not a lot I can do.
I just wanted to know if there is anything my doctor can give me to make it go away, or will I suffer with this forever? Websites I've found are unclear as to whether it's permanent or a passing thing.

Doctors and sufferers' opinions very welcome, thank you.

I had that and I had an ultrasound done, which found I had cysts on my ovaries and fliud and that was my pain during the day and during sex, go for an ultrasound, make sure also you ask lots of questions about other things like the cysts and to make sure everything is ok

I was just diagnosed with interstitial cystitis and my urologist told me that there is no cure for this and it is still unknown what causes it. He told me to watch what I eat and to avoid the foods that bother me. I've heard that there are some medicines that you can try to make the symptoms not bother you as much but he hasn't given me any yet, first he wants me to watch my diet and see what I come up with there.
