I think I've got cystitis...?

I think I've got cystitis but I'm not sure. It hurts like hell when I pee, but I also haven't been able to **** for three days. I've read about cystitis and it says nowhere that that is one of the symptoms, only the pain.

I'm asking about this here because I kinda don't want to go to the doctor and also, I live in a small town and there isn't appointment available until the 1 of march.

Can someone please help.

I'm a severe sufferer of cystitis, i will get it without fail atleast twice a month. I don't know what that four stars was meant to say but if it was meant to say poo then that is actually a symptom. One of the tablets you have to take with preventing cystitis is a pro-biotic to keep your poo regular this is coz if u don't poo it will put pressure on your bladder and prevent it from completely emptying (which is really bad). A lot of websites say that its a burning pain with cystitis however mine is more of a shooting pain all the way up inside me when i wee, so its not the same for everybody. DRINK LOADS of water and cranberry and piss whenever you need to even if u went 2 secs ago lol. No orange juice or fizzy drinks and No alcohol, makes it so much worse!! Too acidic!! Don't bath, have showers and don't use soap down below, use a feminine wash (femfresh), but for the meantime just use water. No tight clothing, like jeans or thongs!! If your in a sexual relationship then DONT have sex while your having an attack, it will make it so much worse!! Also in any cemist your can get sachets that are a 48 hour course which are usfull, especially if its your first attack. x

I suspect if you dont know for sure that this is cystitis then you have not had it before, if the pain is that bad then you need an urgent appointment regardless of what the receptionist at your doctors say as it is imperative that you get a correct diagnosis. This is due to the fact that cystitis nearly always requires antibiotics to clear it. Failure to get treatment can result in damage and can also lead to kidney infections as the bacteria carries on up the urinary tract. In the mean time time drink lots of water and I mean lots also drink some cranberry juice. I believe that there is an over the counter remedy now for the relief of cystitis. However I would not advise his without first consulting your doctor. If teh receptionist still refuses an apointment then ask that the doctor cal you remember you dont have to tell her anything just that your require urgent advice. Alternatively if you live in the UK try NHS Direct.

To prevent further outbreaks of cystitis always wipe front to back after going to the toilet.

You havent siad if you are sexually active but if you are cystitis can mimic other symptoms of STIs. being unable to open your bowels may or may not be connected.

have you ever had a bladder infection? i used to have constant bladder and kidney infections for a couple of yrs and thats when i was told i had cystitis. when you have cystitis they may put you on meds and have you come in weekly to put medication directly into your bladder w/ a cathider. that is what helped me most. but you really need to get your urine tested before march 1st because if its a bladder infect it could make you sick. Some drug stores sell bladder infect strips.
