D-mannose for cystitis?

has anyone used d-massose for cystitis and uti's with any success? was it better than cranberry supplements? any advice is great! thanks!

well thanks for that dr frank. i do take antibiotics, but my infections are chronic. i've been on long term antibiotics, had operations and nothing has worked! in combination with antibiotics i thought i'd try d-mannose (having already tried cranberry and accupuncture), but wanted too see if anyone else had tried it successfuly!

Most of the women with bladder infection will be treated with a course of antibiotics, a strategy that kills the current infection but that leaves the bladder vulnerable to a future bacterial invasion. As a result, most of the women who see a doctor about a bladder infection will return.

Most blader infection respond well to home care that treats the symtoms, while strengthening the immune system. You should still consult a doctor, however, as there is a possibility that the infection can spread to the kidneys.

Treatment -
Diet: Sugar depress the immune system and encourage the growth of bacteria. Avoid all refined sugar ( including those in alcohol ) while you're batteling the infection, and restrict them once you've recovered.

During the course of infection, stat away from salty, spicy, processed, or refined foods, sugary and diet sodas, as well as caffeine.

Increase your urine output. Drink as much clean water as you can. Try 6-8 ounce glass every waking hour.

Eat plenty of watermelon, celery, and parsley, or use them to make fresh juices.

If you must take anti-biotics, eat a cup of oragnic, unsweetened yougurt with live/active culture everyday. These foods help return good bacteria to your body.

When you drink fruit juice, dilute it with clean water. Concentrate on vegetable juices more.

Supplemets -
1. Uva ursi - 250mg capsule or 5 ml of the tincture from - 4 times /day.

2.D-mannose - 500 mg, 4/day. This substance prevents bacteria from being able to attach to the urinary tract and th ebaldder wall.

3.Echinacea - 500 mg capsules, or 4 ml of the ticture form - 4/day.

4.Cranberry - 400-500 mg of extract, 2/day. This herb is best used for prevention.

5. Horsetail - 500 mg of capsule or 2 ml of the tincture, 4/day.

6. Vitamin C - 1000 mg, 4-5 /day. It makes urine more acidic, so that bacteria can not grow as easily.

7. Organo oil - 500 mg of capsule, 4/day.

8. Probiotics - contain friendly bacteria that prevent the overgrowth of harmful bacteria. If you take antibiotics, after finishing the course, take it, for two months. Choose a product containing at least 4 billions organisms daily.

9. Stress deplets the immune system and leaves you vulnerable to recurring infections. Reduce the level of stress in your life. Use exercise, or diferent techinques. Lavender, Jasmine, rose, and geranium are good choice for essential oils.

no not yet but i will if i have to thans

Cranberry in all its forms has now been shown to be almost useless. D- mannose has not had as much study, but appears not much better. I am the most ant- antibiotic GP you are ever likely to contact. However UTI is the exception, I will always give antibiotics. Untreated infections can ascend from the bladder to the kidney. here they produce scarring from pyelitis or pyelo-nephritis. repeated events can produce significant renal damage.

I have UTI problem for over 8 years. Everytime it will happened after having sex with my husband. I had operation few years ago, however it never help. I try take antibiotics right after sex (doctor recommended) for so many years. I am so sick with that problem, it always coming back and it so depressed. Untill last month I went on line and I check on this web site call waterfall-d-mannose.com and I read all the stories there. So I bought it and I feel great. It so different from taking antibiotics and d-mannose. After taking d-mannose, first, I don't need antibiotics anymore. Second, I feel like a new me. I am fighting with UTI for so long and so much exp. I am strongly recommend you to take it.
