A natural cure for cystitis??? I have cystitis but i only gave birth a week ago and am breastfeeding so......

i don't really want to take antibiotics unless i have to as a last resort! Does anyone know of any natural cures that are safe while breastfeeding?

plenty of water and cranberrie juice to flush out your system - congrats on the baby!

Gallons and gallons of water, and cranberry juice :)

Cranberry Juice helps quite a lot apparently. Give it a go. Just regular fresh cranberry juice on its own: about a carton per day.

Drink plenty of cranberry juice everyday.

Cranberry juice or Barley orange water.

Well I guess you are English, so this may not apply to you, but if you have access to nopal, you can make a juice of it and drink it, its the best thing as a natural remedy.

seems to have some good advice. grapefruit and cranberries and stuff cleans (ahem) bowel-area bacteria, and i don't think they cause any problems for your breast-feeding baby. hope it helps...?

Drink plenty of water and ask the doc if there is anything safer to use other than antibiotics for your problem, mention to the doc you are breastfeeding.

Any thing you consume will affect your milk.

Cranberry juice is renowned aid for kidney infections - it may also be a good aid for bladder infections.

Herbal teas may also be useful - speak to your local health food shop or search on line.

As much water as you can possibly drink. Also, if it really stings when you wee, get a jug of warm water and pour it over your "bits" when you wee. A midwife told me this in hospital and it worked well 4 me. Good Luck and happy nappies x

A teaspoonful of bicarbonate of soda in a pint of water about two or three times a day. This isn't good if you've got high blood pressure and you need to check with your doctor but it will take the stinging away because it makes the urine less acidic. But really you just need to drink as much water as you possibly can. (My mum is the font of all knowledge.)

Cranberry juice is fantastic, or barley water.

Water water water water cranberry juice and more water!! you can also buy cranberry tablets from health food shops!!

Congrats and welcome to motherhood!!!!!!

Cranberry juice is good for cystitis. You can buy it in any supermarket in cartons. Tesco's has it also and you can get them in tablet form over the counter in the chemist or prescribed by your doctor.

The only time you need to take antibiotics for cystitis is if you have a serious infection and you would then have blood in your urine.
I suggest a couple of things;
If you've been a little constipated lately then eat some boiled beetroot. You can slice this and put it in a sandwich with other bits and pieces. You need to ensure you have regular bowl movement as any acidity can transfer through the thin wall separating your back passage and your front.
I think there are homeopathic drops you might be able to take.
Drink lots of water to flush your bladder out.

cranberry juice, before that came available i believe hot sweet lemon tea worked
