Cystic Fibrosis and sports? |
what sports can people do with Cystic Fibrosis ?? People with CF can do anything that they want to do - as long as they are ABLE to do it. My daughter played field hockey in her grade school years (up to 8th grade) and she also rode horses in equestrian events up until about age 20. as an adult with CF i think that you can do anything you wish to do, and are able to do. speaking for myself when i was younger i played baseball, & basketball with very little limitations, now at 39 i swim as often as possible I ride horses. I used to play all different kinds of sports, but now i ride horses. It actually helps with postural drainage too. You can really do anything that you are comfortable with. Just know your limits...and dont push it (Know how long you can run without being uncomfortable, etc.) Anything your health will let you. My brother plays baseball and he's 27 with CF I always swam and I am 24 with cf. Don't listen to stupid people who tell you psudemonus grows in pools because if its an untreated nasty green pool MAYBE. but Any pool with an ounce of chlorine in it is psudomonus free. I haven't been able to swim as much since I got out of high school but while I swam everyday at school I was healthy for 2 years. Sports are one of the best ways to keep you healthy. |
