Cushing's Syndrome? |
I want to know if it is possible to have had cushings syndrome (due to asthma medication) for years, and not know it. I am assuming there are different rates of reaction for each cause. How fast do these symptoms come about with asthma medication, and do all the symptoms have to be present to be considered? Also, what happens if it is due to the medication, but there is no other medicine that works for you? I am very worried that I may have this and no other medicine works for me. Thanks. Cushing syndrome is caused by a tumor on the pituitary gland. It causes a hump on the upper back and some straia (stretch marks) on the belly, making you look like you've just given birth (I had it). You need to see an endocrinologist right away and have him check your Pit gland. These are almost always non-cancerous, but cause the rest of your endocrine system (thyroid, female/male parts, breasts, lymph nodes) to go outa whack). Mine also triggered some light seizures, and now I take Topiramate (75mg day) to help control it. It also helps control my weight (I'm finally coming down, but it's a slow process), but it's not without risk and I must be watched closely. {{{Empress Hug}}} |
