Anyone know anything about Cushing's disease or syndrome?

I'm pretty sure I have Cushing's. A doctor about five years ago took one look at me and told me I have it. I couldn't afford the tests then , but can now. I will soon be talking with my doctor about getting this done. I have researched many, many websites and discovered close to 50 symptoms. I have about 30 symptoms including obesity, hump of fat in back of neck, pendulous abdomen, diabetes, high BP, and more. Cushing's is caused by excess cortisol released by the pituitary gland. Does anyone out there have Cushing's? I would like to share some of my symptoms and problems with you and vice versa.

I had Cushing's, the kind caused by a pituitary tumor. There's a forum for people who have Cushing's or are testing for it at http://cushings.invisionzone.c... That board answers lots of questions you may have and offers you the opportunity to discuss symptoms and treatments with others. Report It

Cushing鈥檚 Syndrome is the resulting set of symptoms observed when the body is exposed to excess cortisone (or related hormones) over a long period of time. Cortisone, or more correctly 鈥淐ortisol,鈥?is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands which are located atop the kidneys. Cortisol is stored in the adrenal gland and released in times of stress where it helps our bodies prepare for a 鈥渇ight or flight鈥?situation. It adjusts the metabolism to expect physical exertion by mobilizing fat and sugar stores and retaining sodium and water. It puts us in a state of 鈥渂reak down鈥?so that our stored resources can be used quickly. If the body is exposed to this hormone most of the time instead of during short stressful periods, the state of break down becomes debilitating.

There are several mechanisms which can lead to Cushing鈥檚 syndrome and, as they are treated differently, it is important to determine which one is at work in a given animal.

what i am trying to say is it occurs mostly in animals but you could have it go see a doctor

The drug Prednisone can cause a temporary "Cushing's Syndrome." I have had that side effect with the drug, with all of the typical effects. How is your condition being managed? If you need to talk, feel free to email me..

Hi there -
Wow - that is awful. I have heard of the disease although I know it is very rare. I was looking at it and wondering if I could have it. But I do not have diabetes or HPB. I also do not have excess hair growth but I do have a lot of the other symptoms.
How do you feel? Do you feel tired all the time?
I found this website and it looked interesting.
I would definitely talk to your Dr about it.
Good luck and email me cyndi71@aol.com anytime...
