Has anyone heard of Cushing's Syndrome/Disease?

I went to the doctor yesterday and they took blood to see if I have it. I go back in three weeks to get the results. Some things I've read about it are pretty scary. I was wondering if anyone out there knows someone who has it. Or does anyone know anything about it? I don't know what to expect if my results are positive.

Symptoms include rapid weight gain, particularly of the trunk and face with sparing of the limbs (central obesity), "moon face", excess sweating, telangiectasia (dilation of capillaries), atrophy of the skin (which gets thin and bruises easily) and other mucous membranes, purple or red striae on the trunk, buttocks, arms, legs or breasts, proximal muscle weakness (hips, shoulders), and hirsutism (facial male-pattern hair growth). A common sign is the growth of fat pads along the collar bone and on the back of the neck (known as a buffalo hump). The excess cortisol may also affect other endocrine systems and cause, for example, reduced libido, impotence, amenorrhoea and infertility. Patients frequently suffer various psychological disturbances, ranging from euphoria to frank psychosis. Depression and anxiety, including panic attacks, are common.

Heres an article that may interest you.

There is a good medicine to treat Cushing's but it's not available in the U.S., one of my professors has it and he orders his from England

i though my daughter had it because she had a lot of the symptoms

whatever the outcome of the test are - you are lucky that you have a competent Dr. to check you so thoroughly - cushings is treatable so that's really good news

Cushing's disease is an endocrine disorder of the adrenal glands which are located on top of the kidneys. For some reason your glands are producing too many steroids. This condition can also be brought about by taking steroids.Overproduction can cause many problems.Wait until your tests return before worrying.
