Is there any link between Fibromyalgia and polycystic ovarian syndrome? |
I noticed that insulin is an issue in both of them. The cause of fibromyalgia is unknown and is commonly misdiagnosed. Flu-like viral illness, chronic fatigue syndrome, HIV, Lyme disease, physical trauma, persistent stress and chronic sleep disturbance can be preceding factors. It doesn't say anything about polycystic ovarian syndrome. PCOS is typically from an endocrine imbalance that affects mostly young women. I don't believe that there is any link. Fibromyalgia occurs in the musculoskeletal system while PCOS is the reproductive system. Majority of the time systems affect others, but I don't see any links in the symptoms or the precipitating factors. So, I would say no there isn't any link. www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/fibromyalgia |
