Crutches????????? |
In my knee, I have patellar tendonitis, the tissue is folded, and my knee is in a brace from my PT to push it up because it is too far down, but it is not working. I am in almost constant pain and I can't excercise and sometimes every step makes the pain shoot from my knee up to my back. I'm about ready to go out and get myself a pair of crutches, this has been going on for 3 years. I just want it to heal. Should I get crutches? Why or why not? I have been to doctors, so DO NOT suggest that. I think you need a new doctor. I think you need an orthopedist, and I think you need physical therapy. It's the physical therapists job to determine what the best course of treatment is for you and whether or not you need crutches. Even the doctor will usually defer to the physical therapists recommendations because that's their specialty. Maybe your condition has changed or gotten worse over the last three years. It sounds like it, which means you will simply have to be re-evaluated. Crutches will not actually help your leg get better, and I'd be concerned first with that, then pain control, then getting around in the meantime. I know you don't want to hear that, but what other real choice do you have. I would suggest going to a NEW doctor....Have you tried a chiropractor? You have been to doctors, but apparently not one has even tried to treat you. I don't know if crutches will help for one reason. In order to use them, you have to hold your leg up a little bit, which puts stress on your knee. You could use them as partial weight bearing just to take the pressure off. But if this has been ongoing for 3 years, you need to see a knee specialist. Maybe your brace is causing more harm than good. Crutches suck. Do not get them, I had to use them for a while and the pain was almost as excruciating as the injury, they really wear you out. I hate crutches. Crutches are horrid. |
