My Crutches hurt worse than my broken foot...?

I know I shouldn't be but I have been walking on my fractured leg because the crutches hurt more than the broken leg. I have a wheel chair that I have been using. What can I do to make the crutches feel better? I have put towels around them and they are the right height and everything but they hurt really bad. I'd rather walk even though I am not supposed to. What shoudl I do???

I know your pain crutches suck... i was told to use them but I didn't because they made my shoulders hurt.
later on I had to use them because my knee was so bad I couldn't put weight on it.
put some sort of padding on the part that goes under your shoulder it helps some.

use the wheel chair. no one likes the crutches.

There is definately something wrong. Your crutches are not adjusted properly, or nobody showed you how to use them. Something.... I don't know what, but I do know you had best not walk on your bum ankle or you will do more damage than you had originally.

hope you have someone to help you out...even with proper adjustment, crutches can sometimes be worse than the injury!! I had bruises for weeks under my arms....My doc gave me a extra script for a anti inflammatory, it seemed to help, with an extra pain pill here and there! Good Luck!!

When I tore a ligament in my ankle, my crutches would also hurt my armpits. So what helped me was taping towels around the padding. You may also want to try taking a layer of sponge or something of that sort, and wrapping it around the padding.

Don't put all your weight on your armpits. Use your arms and hands to take most of the pressure. Also, as you become more used to the crutches it won't hurt as bad. The pain you are feeling is normal, but won't permanently damage anything. Walking on the broken leg could, though.

You're putting too much weight on your armpits. Hold your arms straight and let them do more work. It's tiring but your arms will quickly get stronger. It should be your good foot and arms and hands that do all the work.

check with the orthopedic doctor because you shouldnt be feeling that way. in that way, he might be able to change your crutches or have some fixing to do. don't walk on your fractured leg because it might take it longer to heal. if you can't avoid doing so, atleast have something to lean on.

yea the crutches suck.....

put small pillows on there to make it softer, thts wht i did and it kind worked
