Using crutches in the rain? |
I had foot surgery last week, and I wanted to know if it's safe to use crutches in the rain. (I can only bear weight on one foot). I'm scared that I'll slip if I attempt to use them when it's been raining, but I HAVE to go outdoors in the rain today. Has anyone used crutches in the rain? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks! I have used crutches in the rain, and snow. You have to make sure that you set the crutch when you take a step. It will slide if you don't make sure it is really set in one spot. I couldn't move real fast when I was on a wet surface, and was on them for many months. Yes, as long as there's a rubber tip at the end you should be ok. I dont know but I am also on crutches and its raining out today....can you relate? Lol hold on let me go outside and try it and I will get back to you on that in a sec. It is okay to use crutches in the rain, but please make sure you're careful. This weekend I got dropped off at the entrance to Walmart. I was on crutches and was going to ride a buggy. As soon as I stepped a FOOT inside of Walmart, I slipped and fell hard. I had on sneakers, but I guess my soles were slick... |

You need to set your crutches a inch higher than it is set for and dont rest your armpits on your crutches instead use your arms and push up on that bar thingy thats... get your crutches and measure them to your arm pit but not right at your arm pit, a little below then walk around with them a little bit you'll get use to it.
