Did I catch a cold from my nephew who has croup? |
My 1 1/2 year old nephew has croup and I have been taking care of him. He's starting to get better but now my throat is all scratchy, my head aches and my nose is running like I'm coming down with a cold. Adults don't get croup, right? Can his croup give me a cold? Or did he have a cold and it turned into croup and now I have the cold he started out with? Adults can get croup. I'm 24 and I recently had it. I went to the doctor and she was puzzled. She asked if I worked closely or had any kids and I said no. She said, I don't know how you got it, but you have croup. Thought it's considered a childhood disease, adults can get it too...similar to chicken pox. Go to the doc to find out for sure but it is very much possible for you to have it if he had it. Don't worry. You can not catch croup. You just have a cold and I hope you feel better soon. Yes the Croup causes different manifestations in different age groups. But most commonly you simply got the cold from someone else. |
