Why does The Croup Get worse at night? |
My 4 year old has The Croup. it has to do with the tempature differce and the hewmidity in the air. ask your doctor to explain it in english(lol) so that you know for sure what's goin on. dont be afraid to ask, i mean considering it is your kids life your talking about. hope your 4 yr old gets better. ALL COUGHS GET WORSE AT NIGHT. ITS WHEN YOU LAY DOWN THE PHELM GETS CAUGHT IN THE THROAT when he or she lays on they'er back it settles and make it harder to cough the fluids up try a vaporizer with liquid vicks and prop him or her up from shoulderblades upwith pillows this should help alieveate it alittle Lying down flat causes phlegm to back up. Try propping up the mattress with a phone book or thick pillows. Croup usually gets worse at night because the air is cooler at night. This is why some will recommend sitting in the bathroom, with the door closed with your child, while running the hot water to cause a "sauna" effect. This will help calm croup. |
