How long is croup contagious? croup is as contagious as the common cold. wash hands well. cool night air works great in reduction of swelling. if put on antibiotics, it shouldn't be contagious after 24hrs of medication. usually only young children get croup <5yrs. it is rare for adults and older children to get it.
