Is it possible for smoke to be the cause of my 15th month old son to NOT BREATHE? Croup was his diag/ stridor?

My son spent 2-nights over grandma's & upon returning we took him to the E.R. because he was gasping for air. Grandma, who denies smoking in front of my kids, doesn't realize that even the windows open doesn't count!!!! Why does she constantly lie about it and cause so much harm to my kids? She also smokes in front of her other grandchildren....one of which who has rsv. Why can't she quit harming her family????? When they sleep at night, she lights up a cigartette....hello they are still breathing!!!!! I am beyond irritated and this is NOT the first episode after leaving grandma's.

You're absolutely right for being upset-her neglect of care for the children could absolutely be the cause of this diagnosis. To make matters worse, you could actually be held accountable if you don't find someone else to keep them!
People who smoke find it hard to believe that them smoking in front of an open window or outside is acceptable behavior, neglecting to believe that the carcinogens and poisons in the smoke is in their hair, skin and everywhere they are. Smoking anywhere around anyone can make them sick, cigarettes kill people and make others sick-they've even been suspected of causing childrens' illnesses like asthma and RSV.

everytime my kids go around my mother in laws to spend the night they come home coughing and sneezing noses running she says i think they have a cold or something but after being home a little bit they are fine again so sure it is possible. plus my cousins always had bronchitus or something like it and drs said it was from being around their parents smoking all the time
