I'm sure my son has come down with Croup. His cough makes a loud barking noise.?

He was diaignosed with vocal cord paralysis at birth but grew out of it at about two months old. Should I be especially concerned now that he has this cough? Does it pose a threat to ruining his vocal cords? I'm planning on taking him to his pedicatrician first thing tomorrow morning.

Should I be giving him neubilizer treatments?

My daughter has had croup a lot.....they basically just give you a steroid/anti-inflammatory to reduce the swelling and strain in the throat that causes croup. You will not receive an antibiotic unless there is some other infection present.

You are right on track by taking him to the pediatrician. Especially considering his diagnosis he had when he was two months old. Just for reassurance and knowing the best way to handle it will ease your mind, too.

P.S. Nebulizers are for the lungs.....croup is all in the throat. I don't think a nebulizer will help in this case. Please do try to use a cool mist humidifier to help through the night until you get to the doctor.
