I have a chronic cough what is it???? |
I am a sophmore in high school and I was out sick with this cough for 2 weeks. It sounded like croup or something. I went to the doctor and the said I had a siclicle cough syndrome and put me on antibiotics, inhalers and nebulizer treatments. I went to the hospital and they gave me codiene. Its not constant anymore, but whenever I get a cold I cough like that now. Does anybody know what it could be? They said it wasint athsma, they really had no clue?? it could be asthma. Go to your doctor and get checked out. You may need an inhaler for times you are ill. I do If you have to ask about this it's better to ask it to a doctor instead. i have had same cough for days also..my kids have too.. i got antibiotics but nothing helps.. chest tight and all... with nebulizer treatments.. not asthma.. its ao weird... just recently that it has developed into a cold with loose sputum and all but still coughing.. i was told its the weird weather.. who knows. My family has had a constant cough for a couple of weeks, but I think it's something just going around. However, I'm wondering if your doctor thought you had asthma and if you ever got to where you just couldn't breathe or catch your breath. Inhalers and nebulizer treatments won't hurt and the codeine will make you cough less...and also make your drowsy. I'm wondering if they took a chest xray to see if you have anything going on in your lungs...such as pneumonia, bronchitis etc. The antibiotics should help those if you do have it. If your cough continues for another week, I would definitely recommend that you go back to your doctor for further testing of your lungs to see what's going on. Cough is caused by a number of ailments. |
