3 year olds cough during evening and night? |
My son has had a cough for a few weeks. It seems to only happen when he goes to bed. I have put a humidfier in his room and it doesn't seem to make a difference. He has been to the Dr twice and she says his lungs are clear. My son had the same problem. Every night and especially in the early hours of the morning he would cough. Not a real productive cough, but a dry, tickly cough and lots of throat clearing. Same thing, cough meds didn't work. It turned out that he has asthma. Not the typical wheezing kind, but a milder form causing chronic throat clearing/cough. Nighttime worsens this (I'm not sure why, lying down, body temperature changes, etc). I would, if your insurance allows, make an appointment with a pediatric asthma and allergy MD. If your insurance won't allow without a referral, call your MD and request this. Do some research about childhood asthma and see if any other symptoms correlate. Good Luck. By the way, my son is 6 and has almost outgrown symptoms and is no longer on medications. Benadryl and put vapo steam in the vaperizor. maybe hes getting allegies or something. try some natrual medicine, it works for me, becuase chemical only worsened my allergy. Although my symptons were sneezing, yet it only happened at night and before taking a bath. luveeduve... is correct, also, my daughter would loose soooooo much sleep she was very grumpy in the morn and it was a BIG problem when she started school! We had her tonsils and adnoids removed, (DR. suggestion) because it got so bad she would have to sleep half sitting up to breath well enough to get any rest. Now, your child may outgrow it, I just don't want you to get irritated if he gets grumpy like she did. She couldn't help it. Look for a powder food supplement that can absorb fast. That helped me with my bouts of frequent coughs, colds and sore throat in the last 4 years. |
