What are the long term affects of an overdose of glucocorticoid.?

When our son was a few months old we were traveling and he developed croup. I took him to a doctor who proscribed a glucocorticoid. The dose was to be 1/10 of a cm which equals about a drop three times a day. When I returned to the motel where we were staying at I found that I needed to leave do to an emergency. I flew to another State and my wife and son returned to our home. My wife thought the dose was 1 cm. I didn't return for over a week. Our son was overdosed for five days. My wifte and I just realized the error while cleaning out the medicine cabinet. My son is now enrolled in special education because he can't talk and he's three years old. Could the medicine overdose cause this and is there anything that can be done to reverse the damage if this is the cause?

It really could have caused the damage. Some of the effects of glucocorticoids can be induced Osteoporosis, slowed growth, his adrenal cortex could dry up. Just alot of bad things can happen. Seek the help of a pediatrician or a specialist in endocrinology.
