Oral sex with Crohn's disease?

I have been with my boyfriend for about 4 years now, about a month ago he was diagnosed with crohn's disease. He used to give me oral sex but now does not because he say s his doctor said people with crohn's are not suppossed to ingest any bodily fluids because it will make them sick. I have never went to his doctor's with him, so I was wondering, is this the truth, or is he just saying this because he doesn't want to pleasure me anymore?

serious answesr from people with expeirience with crohn's only.

There is a reason why i said ppl with crohs experience only.

CHRONS IS NOT AN STD!!! It is a condition and it is not contagious!

Thanks for the first answer...

My sister has ulcerative colitis (severe enough to have her entire colon removed) and my best friend has Crohn's disease, so I have MUCH experience with this. I'm also a nurse. Both of these conditions are grouped together under the title "inflammatory bowel disease." Crohn's is a chronic, inflammatory condition of the GI track which effects both the small and large intestine. It produces inflammation. The lesions are open and sore and then heal causing scarring of the bowel. For some, it's severe and for others, it's barely noticeable. There are many symptoms which vary from person to person. Depending on the severity, it can be treated with immunosuppressant drugs and steroids in hopes of curbing the inflammation, thus reducing the symptoms. While it is true that those with Crohn's have to watch their diet, I've never heard of not "ingesting body fluids." There are some things, that when ingested, while cause GI distress such as dairy products, nuts, raw fruits and veggis, and items with shells/seeds to name a few. I don't feel your boyfriend is being honest with you. I don't even believe a doctor would say this! It makes no sense. For starters, the "body fluids" being ingested during oral sex are minimal at best. This would have nothing to do with causing GI distress. There wouldn't even be enough to upset the stomach. You are receiving more "body fluids" by giving him oral sex than he is receiving from you. I hate to tell you, but I think this is your boyfriend's way of not wanting to perform oral sex. My suggestion is to discuss this with him and find out if it makes him uncomfortable. If so, there can be other things you could do to be intimate.

I have a mild case of crohn's and I have never heard that, in fact other than taking multiple medications it has not changed my lifestyle at all, including what I ingest. Sounds like he is misinformed or looking for a way out of oral sex. Report It

I have NEVER heard of that one!

That's a new one on me too. I'd be suspicious of what your BF is telling you.

Spikey Paws, dear, Crohn's is not an STD. It's an autoimmune disorder of the digestive system, and it's not contagious.

I have never hear of the before, unless oral sex gives him severe stress, which could lead to a flare up of Chroh's, he is just pulling your leg.
Read up on the topic so you can help him with his diet and mental support when needed.

read into this website maybe it answers your question. I don't know if you ever heard of this over the counter supplement which is called acidophillus. Acidofillus is a supplement which is good for your organs it cleanses unwanted bacteria. Let me tell you after I had my baby I had an yeast infection that will not go away, what the antibiotic and cream did not do acidophillus did it all. This is good for all kinds of infection that you have in your body. Mention this to your boyfriend and maybe this will be great for the problem he has and will cure him.

He is telling a tall tale

hi lacie, I am a female crohnie for 27 yrs. I have never in my entire life have heard that.

Go to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation site to look up the information you are inquiring about. You can locate stuff on diet, exercise, surgery, and even sexual issues. They have a toll free number you can call and speak directly to health care professionals well versed in IBD (Crohns or Colitis) M-F 9 am - 5 pm (EST). Also, check out the site to find a local support chapter where you are. You will be able to meet others in the same situation you are plus they have educational meetings w/speakers such as dieticians, surgeons, counselors, and yes, even sex therapists. I've been to many so I know what I am talking about and have met all of the speakers personally even the drug reps.

Speaking from personal experience, sometimes when a crohnie is in a flare, the last thing they want to do is be intimate w/someone. They'd rather lie down & try to get rid of the pain. Maybe it's his way of telling you w/o hurting your feelings that he's not feeling well right now.

The best thing you can do is educate yourself, be patient, & try to put yourself in his shoes. If you were feeling sick, would you want to be fooling around? Or would you just want to be held and comforted.

When I am flaring, my husband will make me something he knows I can eat, take over the chores, and run my errands until I am well. His needs are the last thing on his mind.

Knowledge is power. Educate yourselves, listen to the doctor, take the prescribed medications, eat right (when he can--raw foods can aggrivate the gut when flaring so soft, steamed, or canned veggies/fruits can be used until things settle down), don't smoke, don't drink, and get enough rest.

Hope this helps you. I wish him a speedy remission. :)

I have Crohns,

No- Not true.

Okay, I don't care about your rules, but he's not making this up. If any person infected with an STD puts his... in you mouth, butt, or vagina, you can be infected. He just doesn't want it passed to you. You should probley go see if you are sick.
