Scope procedure for diagnosing Crohn's disease...help?

In a few days I am going in to the hospital to get a scope procedure done of my bowel, to look for Crohn's disease. Im only 14 years old, and I am afraid of the pain or discomfort during the procedure...Can anyone share with me their expierences, or if it is really as painful as it sounds? Please, I really need some information. Thank you very much.

Thank you all for your answers. Im just a little nervous is all.

And another question, is it normal to feel discomfort after a rectal exam? I had one done today, and now I feel kind of weird down there. Is that normal?

Sorry about all the questions...

My son has Crohn's and has had numerous test and scopes. He is now 30 and I can tell you it will not hurt. More than likely, they will give you something to relax you and you won't feel any pain. Believe me when I say there is life even with Crohn's. He's had it since he was 14. Good luck, I'll say a prayer for you.

I think that it depends on the person. If your scared about pain, you can always ask for anesthetic. I've had people tell me that it hurts and some people say that it wasnt bad at all.

MY DAUGHTER HAD THIS DONE A FEW MONTHS AGO YOU WILL BE ASLEEP YOU WONT FEEL ANYTHING YOU WILL PROBALY BE TIRED AND SLEEP MOST OF THE DAY.GOOD LUCK I HOPE IT ALL TURNS OUT GOOD FOR YOU.

i have never had Crohn's disease but have had a scope done for another reason. I was put under anesthesia and don't remember a thing about it and did not have pain afterwards. It is certainly not as bad as the pain Crohn's disease causes. Hope this helps and good luck!
