Really persistant cough??

I had a bad dry cough and pain breathing about 9 weeks ago. My lungs werent' congested so I was sent away from the doctor but she thought it could be pneumonia so I was told to return in a week.

After a week I wasn't congested but was still in real pain in the mornings coughing.
Then I gradually got better to the point where the persistant coughing had stopped and the pain went.

However I still am coughing - I can stop myself holding my ribs in but when I HAVE to cough I end up coughing and coughing and coughing for a minute or so until it subsides. I can't gargle mouthwash at night anymore as it will start a coughing fit. My tonsils have also been inflammed on and off recently which usually happens when I get colds.

It's minor thing but I'm irritated now I've been coughing 9 weeks! Any help? I don't know what's causing it.

Any cough persisting more than a week, should be evaluated by a physician. Here are a few simple home remedies that will help to overcome cough. Have honey in a hot drink before bed time.To relieve fits of coughing due to dryness in the throat, suck a few pepper corns. Hun, it sounds bad, I don't know what country you are in but if it's the U.K call NHS 24 they are usually useless but at this time of year the surgery's are closed so they will refer you to someone. Don't suffer and don't think it's nothing.Hope you get it sorted XXX

you might need one of those cough mixtures that sooth the throat and take away the itch, forget the doctors,go to the pharmacist, tell them the same, and they will find you something that works, good luck.
sucking lozenges also helps

Hi, you may have pleuracy or a viral infection; both of which will give you those symptoms. Antibiotics or antivirals may help. You need to see the doctor in case it is something more serious, naturally.

I have that for only 4 weeks this year, last year was 3 months. You need antibiotics but my docter just gives me the same thing Paracetamol and it doesn't work. Try sipping warm water from the kettle (not hot). xxxxxx

Do you whiz any when you breathe. This could be bronchitis, pleurisy. , do you smoke, even not it could be COPD--congested pulmonary disease, have them check out the phenomena. You may need to see a Dr. that deals with the lungs if you feel that is were the cough is coming from.==

do you have carpets?, if so get rid, they hold trillions of dust mites, your pillows may need changing, and cotton beddings, when you change your bed, vac the matress, there is a special anti allergy spray you can use to spray bed with, take down curtains, wash those, they hold dust, too, when dusting, use a damp cloth this prevents dust flying into the air, up your nose, gargle with salt water keeps throat area moist, dont sit in smokey rooms, keep windows open, morning to rid of stale air, evening to allow air to circulate sorry about the cough, it is annoying i have one now, and ive done all these things what ive written down for you, and my cough has lessened, okay try it out, but i hope you get better soon, merry Christmas to you and your family.
