Would the military pay for cosmetic surgery for a spouse?

My friend is considering getting breast implants. Her husband active duty military ( Air Force). It doesn't look like the military will pay for her breast implants, but is it possible that she can get a lower rate? I guess if her hubby wanted some form of cosmetic surgery it would be paid for, but she doesn't think look like she would be covered. Couldn't she just go to a base doctor and pay a lower rate for the procedure?
I'm asking because, if she can find an affordable way to get the implants, we're getting them together! :)
Any military info anyone?
Thanks

no tri-care does not pay for cosmetic surgeries. All cosmetic surgeries are paid out of pocket. The only thing they would cover is to repair something like a broken tooth (if you have dental). But nothing like that at all.

I do not think the military ever pays or discounts cosmetic surgery, no offense but those are tax dollars you are talking about.

I'd be upset if my taxes were supplying cosmetic surgery for people unless everyone is allowed one government-paid plastic surgery. I got dibs on rhinoplasty.

In short, I highly doubt the government will offer a lower rate for cosmetic surgery simply because it doesn't make sense since most insurances provided by a job do not include cosmetic surgery. There are certain plastic surgeons who charge less than othes, so you could just go to a cheaper one.

The military does not pay for any elective procedures at all.

There aren't too many things more elective than boob jobs.

I was in the military, and I have to ask WHY in the world would you trust a military doctor to hack up breasts to give them implants? Please rethink having a military doctor operate on either of you.

And I truly hope the military won't pay for implants. It is purely cosmetic and in no way beneficial to ones health.

Not sure about your friend but many military spouses got help for cosmetic surgery through the MySimpleCard membership. They do not distinguish between cosmetic and medically necessary procedures. They realized their savings through a "patient advocacy" program.
