Why is it important to study genetics in a course on child development? List several specific reasons.? Genetics are very important not only to determine a child's hair or eye color but to also determine the medical history of the child's family, years ago no-one cared what your family history was. Now we know that we are "carbon copies" of our parents so to speak...With anything Heart failure, Hypertension, Mental Illness, etc. its important to study genetics becuz you can figure out child's possible characters such as eye colour ... hair colour .. height .. etc .. The biggest reason I can think of off the top of my head is because of genetic medical problems. Knowing where the child comes from is important piece of child development from both a physician's or a teacher's standpoint. 1. If developmental delay ,may need to rule out that isn't from genetic disease. |
